This North American Bald Eagle was injured in a bird fight by the river near my home and became grounded, allowing me to get real close with my camera. He was sent to a bird sanctuary for medical attention and rehabilitation. The experts agreed with me that he is an old eagle and deserves a good retirement.
For over forty years I have wandered the world with a camera close at hand, always searching for that "just right" moment to capture. Naturally, this WEB site only reflects a small portion of the images I have collected in a lifetime of the visual hunt. As time progresses, there will be many more. I have not been by Birdsacre in a while, so I can't say. I will run by sometime to check, I'm certain they know the origins of their birds. I do know the one I saw lost his right eye in a fight. My understanding was he would be put in a special reserve down near Portland somewhere. They did promise me he would be well taken care of for the rest of his life but never see the wild again. That's so sad.
