This is a section of wave smoothed tree washed up on the shore at Sand Beach in Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, Maine. The photo was shot at midnight under a new moon. Baker Island Lighthouse is in the background on the horizon and the leading edge of a green aurora is just visible in the sky.
